William (Bill) Flynn joined Michigan Financial Group in 1985. In 2015, he co-founded Flynn Wealth Partners along with his son, Nathanael Flynn. He brings over 30 years of wealth management experience, specializing in retirement, risk management, and estate planning strategies. He serves as a partner and co-leader of Flynn Wealth Partners.
Bill remains passionate about helping individuals, families and business owners who are in or nearing retirement to overcome challenges that often accompany the transition to financial independence. His clients rely on his insight and guidance to make educated and confident decisions about their pension options, Social Security claiming strategies, and retirement rollover consolidation. He enjoys helping his clients identify and pursue important long-term care, estate and legacy planning goals.
Bill holds his Series 6, 63, and 65 securities registrations with LPL Financial, and holds Life/Health and Variable insurance licenses. He obtained his Chartered Life Underwriter designation from The American College. The CLU® is the highest level designation available in the life insurance profession.
He is a member of the Financial Services Institute (FSI) and actively participates in a broad range of educational opportunities, continually honing his skills to better serve the firm’s clients. Bill earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University.
Bill and his wife Sheila live in East Lansing and have four grown children. He is an avid sports fan, especially when it comes to following Michigan State University sports. He also enjoys working out at the YMCA, coaching youth sports, reading, and spending time with family at his cottage in southwest Michigan where his family has been going for over 90 years.
He is a member of Trinity Church where he previously served as a board member. He currently serves on the boards of Greater Lansing Youth for Christ and Athletes in Action at Michigan State University.
Nathanael Flynn is the Managing Partner of Flynn Wealth Partners. He joined his father, William (Bill) Flynn at Michigan Financial Group in 2002. In 2015, the father-son team founded Flynn Wealth Partners. He serves as managing partner and co-leader of Flynn Wealth Partners.
Nathanael brings more than 18 years of financial services experience to helping clients pursue personalized strategies aligned with their goals and values. As a Certified Financial Planner™ professional, he embraces the high ethical standards outlined by the CFP Board, and adheres to a personal philosophy emphasizing the importance of honesty, transparency, and placing client needs first.
Nathanael enjoys guiding clients through major financial decisions and helping them to pursue their goals. He specializes in investment analysis, and the development of customized risk management, retirement, and estate planning strategies for individuals, families and business owners. He is a member of the firm’s investment committee where he reviews and researches investment opportunities. In addition to meeting with and proactively serving client needs, he oversees all aspects of firm management with a focus on upholding high service standards and maintaining compliance across all systems, processes and operations.
Nathanael holds his Series 7 and 63 securities registrations with LPL Financial, and his state Life/Health and Variable licenses. He actively pursues continuing education opportunities for the benefit of his clients and is a member of the Financial Services Institute (FSI). He graduated from Wheaton College (Illinois) in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree with a double major in Business and Economics, and Biblical and Theological Studies. After graduating from Wheaton College, Nathanael worked in Macedonia and Eastern Europe for a year. He has also done volunteer work in Kenya.
Nathanael and his wife, Marianne, live in East Lansing where they are raising their four children. He plays the cello and guitar and has sung in the Michigan State University Choral Union. He enjoys fishing, reading, movies, following Michigan State University sports, and spending time with family and friends. He and his family are members of Trinity Church.
Scott Nihart joined the team in 2013. He brings more than 18 years of financial services experience with a focus on financial planning, investment research and analysis, trading, systems, and technology. He develops financial planning strategies aligned with client’s goals, values, and risk tolerance.
Scott reviews income planning strategies for clients in or nearing retirement, and regularly implements enhancements to the firms technology for the benefit of both advisors and clients. He is a member of the firm’s investment committee where he reviews and researches investment opportunities.
Scott earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Anderson University. He holds his Series 7 and 66 securities registrations with LPL Financial, and holds Life/Health and Variable insurance licenses. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, he embraces the high ethical standards outlined by the CFP Board, and adheres to a personal philosophy emphasizing the importance of honesty, transparency, and placing client needs first.
Prior to joining Flynn Wealth Partners, Scott spent 12 years at CNO Financial Group where he was a Senior Investment Analyst. He worked alongside portfolio managers, the research team and traders, and assisted in determining asset valuations, completing analytic reviews, and responding to research requests.
Scott resides in East Lansing, MI with his wife, Sara, and their three children. He enjoys hiking, biking, and coaching youth sports. Scott is a volunteer coach for Meridian Township Parks and Recreation baseball, basketball and flag football. He and his family attend Riverview Church.
Maryann joined Flynn Wealth Partners in 2016. She has over 14 years of financial services experience. Maryann is responsible for new accounts, creating and processing forms, client deposits and withdrawals, among other responsibilities. She can also get you to the right person to answer any questions you may have.
Maryann received her bachelor’s degree in Business Finance from Western Michigan University.
Maryann lives in Grand Ledge with her husband Matt, and their 3 boys. She enjoys being involved in all of their activities which include volunteering at the Humane Society, youth sports and school functions. She enjoys getting away for weekend when she can to scrapbook with friends. Maryann joined Sigma Kappa sorority while in college, and now serves Michigan State University's chapter as the corporation board president. She and her family attend St. Casimir Catholic Church in Lansing.
